Hi everyone,
So here is my report about the weekend with the final three shows of Tap Dogs and the midnight show of West End Bares. I won't split my report between the two topics, I'll tell it all here. After our first Tap Dogs show in July my sister and I could hardly wait to go back and see it again. We had pretty good seats for all three shows and were really excited. Both shows on Saturday were absolutely amazing. One of the swings was on, but you really couldn't tell, he was very good. The audience reaction was great which made the atmosphere even more electrifying. You could really see how the guys on stage enjoyed themselves. Adam was in top form and always responded when someone in the audience shouted something like 'Take your top off'. It was very good to see that he didn't look as exhausted as in July, he looked great. After the evening show, we went to the stage door. The crowd was huge. When we went to the stage door during the 'Wicked' days, it was often very busy, but it was somehow organised with a kind of queue so that you could always get an autograph or even your photo taken. On Saturday, it was pretty chaotic. The first members of the cast came out after about twenty minutes and they were all very nice. However, no sign of Adam. A little while later someone from the theatre staff said that Adam would not pose for photos. When he finally appeared the crowd was getting pretty mad. I decided to try to get some photos instead of waiting for an autograph. He signed for a few minutes and then he squeezed through the rest of the crowd. Some girls ran after him and stopped him again, he talked a few words to them and then he ran away across the street. I've never seen him do that before, he must have felt pretty uncomfortable. My sister and I also had tickets for a late night show with Daniel Boys at the Prince of Wales Theatre - great show by the way - so we headed towards Covent Garden and saw the cast in a bar, I didn't see Adam myself but my sister spotted him in the crowd.
The show on Sunday was a perfect ending. Once again we enjoyed every single minute. No surprise, the crowd at the stage door was huge again. We got a few more autographs from the other cast members who really spent lot of time talking to the fans. Emmy, we waited for 75 minutes and there was still no sign of him. From where we were standing we could see that in the meantime the musicians and the cast had gathered at a bistro across the street. We decided not to wait any longer and hoped for a great midnight show of West End Bares.
Thanks for the branding clip, Helen. This was from the first show at 9.30 pm, the midnight show was different. We were really excited when we arrived at the Caf? de Paris at 11.30 pm. We could only get tickets for the downstairs standing area. Both my sister and I are pretty tall but it was really difficult to see the stage from there. It was quite a struggle to find a spot where you could see more than the head of the performer. The first number was performed by Oliver Thornton. He started in a suit and at the end he was only wearing his underwear. John Barrowman came on stage wearing a T-shirt which said 'I love London' and a Union Jack flag around his underwear. Most of you surely know him when he is in a giggly mood, imagine this and multiply it by ten. I really am a fan of JB as an actor, singer and performer, but this was a bit too much in my opinion. Most of the individual numbers of the show were based on themes related to the UK, a tea party, changing of the guard, etc. There were some pretty big West End names on stage, Ben Richards, Leanne Jones, Rachael Wooding, Sheridan Smith, just to name a few. The male performers mostly ended up in their briefs, the ladies in panties and a bra. Adam was on halfway through the show. The cheering was very loud when John announced him as his good friend and unfortunately I couldn't hear everything they said. As far as I understood Adam had originally planned to perform something with the Tap Dogs ? all of them are announced in the programme ? but there were problems with the producer, they couldn't do it and there was no time left to rehearse something else. If someone else was there on Sunday, correct me if I'm wrong. This is what I gathered under all the noise. So he did not really perform. He said he would do something that he has never done in Tap Dogs, he took his shirt off. John told us all how much he loved Adam's nipples and once again he branded him, this time twice on his back. And that was it. At the end of the show, there were some technical difficulties, they could not perform the final number. There were speeches from the organisers of the show and most of the performers came back on stage. Unfortunately, we couldn't spot Adam anywhere. After the show, the performers were supposed to mingle in the audience so that you could put MAD money - that's what they called the bank notes that you could buy for charity - into their underwear. However, we couldn't stay until the very end of this so I'm not sure if Adam was part of that or not.
This was definitely a weekend to remember. Those of you who are going to see Tap Dogs in Sydney, start counting the days, you are in for a treat.
